JUCO World Series: Barton makes first JUCO run

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT) Barton (KS) is making its first trip to the JUCO World Series.

The cougars won the Central District by defeating Cowley College in two straight games. Cowley was the Central representative in 2017.

"We played Cowley three times in our regional and they're top five," said head coach Brent Biggs. "Our guys played with no fear. We ended up going 2-1 against them. I feel they're as talented as anybody out here. So we'll be used to the talent level for sure."

The cougars are playing as well as any team in the tournament winning nine of their last ten.

"Some teams have good histories," said sophomore catcher Brett Bonar. "But being here the first time we just feel like we're overlooked. I just feel if we play well anything can happen."

Barton will take on Jefferson (MO) at 3 P.M. on Saturday.
