GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT) Summertime means it's officially sports camp season. Colorado Mesa men's and women's basketball is holding three camps over the next two weeks which is expected to bring in over 200 teams.
The first team camp was held this week and gave the 43 teams in attendance a chance to sharpen up their basketball skills during the offseason. The camp was coached and instructed by current CMU players and staff.
"It is great for the University because it has a lot of students coming to see the place. They have a long standing tradition of putting on great camps," said CMU Men's head coach Mike DeGeorge.
Last year the month of summer camps brought in over 2,500 campers making it the second largest basketball camp in the nation.
The camps will run this weekend with an individual skills clinic June 15-17. That will followed up the next two weekends by more team camps on June 18-21 and 25-28.
