GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT) Orchard Mesa middle schooler Caleb Mendenhall grew up with a football in his hands. Now as an 8th grader he is starting to see his game improve every time he steps on the grid iron.
"I have been watching him for the last two years and he has really stepped up. He continues to improve every single time I have worked with him," said Mesa County Junior football coach Tom Wells.
Mendenhall started playing football when he was in just the 5th grade and his passion for the sport has only grown.
"I started playing three years ago and it is just fun for me. I guess I have been at it for awhile and it just keeps me motivated," said Mendenhall.
Caleb is still a year away from entering high school football, but that doesn't stop him from wanting to take his game to the next level. Those who know him on and off the football field , think the future for the quarterback is sky high.
"I think he is going to be something that will be good for this league and for this town and community, "said Wells.
