GJ Rockies: Opitz talks expectations for Rolison

GRANd JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT) The Rockies' first-round draft pick Ryan Rolison will make his pro debut on Tuesday as the Grand Junction Rockies begin a four-game series with the Billings Mustangs on the road.

"We want a guy that's going to work on developing some more pitches that maybe he hadn't thrown in college," said manager Jake Opitz. "That's the stuff he's been working on, really just getting his feet wet. Not expecting a ton. I know he's pretty dang good. It wouldn't surprise me if he does well through those first (innings). He's probably only going to go two innings at most on a Tuesday. Just expect him to just go out there and have some fun."

Last season at Ole Miss Rolison went 10-4 with a 3.70 ERA. He also recorded 120 strikeouts to just 45 walks.

The Rockies have a team ERA on 5.70 which ranks as the second worst in the Pioneer League.
