GJ Rockies: Draft picks add depth

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT) The Grand Junction Rockies' first-round draft pick Ryan Rolison will make his pro debut on Tuesday in Billings against the Mustangs.

Rolison and fourth-round draft pick Ryan Feltner add depth to a pitching staff that has a 5.70 team ERA. It's the second worst in the Pioneer League only to the Orem Owlz's 6.25 team ERA.

Feltner pitched two scoreless innings in the team's win over Ogden on Sunday.

Manager Jake Opitz is still uncertain as to how many starters he will have in the rotation.

"We may have to go to a six-man but right now we don't know," said Opitz. "It's only going to be a couple innings for these guys early on. We'll see how they go. If we need to get them more innings we will and may play with the rotation a little bit. But it's to be determined."

The first of a four-game series against Billings begins at 7:05 P.M. on Tuesday.
