Palisade baseball has won 3 out of their last 4 games on the diamond. This afternoon they welcomed in the Eagle Valley Devils to Suplizio field for some doubleheader action in the Western Slope league.
Game one of today’s doubleheader started exactly how Palisade wanted. The bulldogs scored 6 runs in the second inning to jump out to the quick 7-2.
The two teams went scoreless until the top of the 5th innings when Eagle Valley struck for two runs highlighted by a Joe Rivera RBI double that cut the Bulldog lead to 3.
In the end, the pitching of Palisade proved to be too much as Max Noland went 5 innings allowing 4 runs on 6 hits.
Out of the bullpen Sebo Campbell pitched two scoreless innings to give palisade the game one win 7-4.
Game two of today’s double header had palisade riding a three game win streak. The bulldogs sent senior John Taber to the mound.
From the get go in this one Taber was dealing as he recorded a big strikeout in the first inning to end Eagle Valley’s threat.
The offense soon followed for Palisade as senior Isaac Maestas got the scoring started with an RBI single to right in the bottom of the first to give the Bulldogs the 1-0 lead.
The bats were at full throttle for the bulldogs in this one. Stevie Reynolds blasted a pitch over the wall in left for the big fly to put palisade up 5-0 in the second.
With the bats working early and often for Palisade, they were able to finish this one in 5 innings with the 12-2 mercy rule.
