Crime Down at Country Jam 2011

MACK, Colo. (KKCO) - It was a good year for music and an improved year for safety -- authorities say crime was down across the board at Major Mortgage Country Jam 2011.

According to the Mesa County Sheriff's Office 50 DUI's were issued during the four day festival. That's down from 54 in 2010.

115 minors were caught drinking, a significant drop from the 187 minors who were ticketed a year ago.

The number of adults cited for giving alcohol to minors was also down from 24 in 2010 to 15 in 2011.

There were no reported incidents of assaults, thefts, drug violations, or domestic violence.

How do you know? Are you one of the cops or security that worked there? That's pretty much the only way you would know that. WTF.

Thank you for your good report on Country Jam.The other channels started off by only saying the negative things. It is one of the biggest money makers in the county.I was there at the Country Club tent, when you came in.You were very nice ,and funny.I have been coming to the jam for 17 years.I and thousands of people there enjoy it very much.It is only a few who cause trouble.I camped out there for most of those years, and never had any problems with the crowds.I will be 75 next month and still enjoy the music festivals.I hope I can continue to.The people I have met out there no matter how far they have come, have been fun and friendly, especially the ones who run the Country Club tent.
