Mesa County Commissioner
Making Your Vote Count
Reporter: Amanda Wagner

Even though District 2 is the smallest of the districts represented by the board of Mesa County Commissioners it is seen as the urban area of the county.

Republican Steve Acquafresca and Democrat Jim Witt are both vying for the spot of Mesa County Commissioner in District 2. With a booming housing market and energy exploration on the rise, the county is is seeing rapid growth, which could potentially bring change to our area. Both candidates say they are up for the challenge.

One issue facing the Board of Commissioners is whether to expand the board from three members to five. Acquafresca says you can't go wrong letting the voters decide on such an issue. Witt says he believes there would be better representation with five members, not three and will push for the expansion.

The new commissioner will replace term limited Tillie Bishop. The term for Mesa County Commissioner is four years.
