The race for Coroner in Delta County has a man who has been on the job since 1998 running against a newcomer hoping to take over the post.
Republican candidate Chalmer Swain has more than 28 years of experience with the Delta County Coroner's office. He has served as deputy coroner and chief deputy coroner in delta county. Swain also served on the delta police department for almost 10 years as a reserve officer.
Democrat Lucky Adams is a registered nurse who has a medical background and says if elected as coroner he will ensure the public knows they have choices. Adams says the public needs to know they have a right to choose what funeral establishment performs final funeral services for their loved ones, they need to be given those choices. Adams says the office of coroner is about more than pronouncing death,
Swain says he takes pride in the fact that he was elected and took an oath to uphold the Constitution and the all of laws in the state of Colorado. He says he has the experience, knowledge and education for the job and still has the energy and enthusiasm to continue as delta county coroner.
Adams says his career's emphasis is on life, and truly loves what he does.
