DELTA, Colo. (KKCO)-- The Delta Panthers go into the 2010 season in an unusual situation-- they are looking to make it back to the playoffs. Last year's Panthers made it to the playoffs for the first time since 2000, and it all came under first-year Head Coach Ben Johnson.

This season may prove to be a bit tougher to make the playoffs. 3A football has expanded from 40 teams to 51 meaning that seven conference champions and nine wild card teams will earn playoff spots.

The Panthers lost both their top quarterback, Austin Watson, and leading tackler, Gene White. Mitchell Whiteside will be given the quarterback job, and Delta returns their top running back from last year in Michael Patton.
