CRAIG, Colo. (AP) - Senior Brenden Beeg rallied to overcome a four-stroke deficit to win the individual class 4A State Golf Championship and help D'Evelyn win its first state title.
Beeg's 4-under-par 66 Tuesday and an even-par 70 on Monday was enough to place him over first-day leader Wyndham Clark of Valor Christian. Clark finished in second place with a score of 2-over 142.
Tied for third place in individual results were Andrew McCain of Pueblo Centennial and Ryan Hooks of Evergreen. Each shot 145.
Justin Russel of Montrose shot a two round score of 146 to finish in fifth place while teammate Drew Trujillo finished tied for 23rd with a score of 153. Pat Young shot 158 for the Indians and tied for 47th and Braden Walters added a score of 163 in 64th place.
Delta's Donny Stewart finished in 74th with a score of 169.
In team results, Greeley Central took second place with a 446 score and Montrose took third place with 453.
The tournament took place at the Yampa Valley golf course.
