DELTA, Colo. - In 3A football, the Western Slope League is one of the toughest in the entire state of Colorado and the Delta Panthers know all to well just how tough it is to win games each year.

It has been over 10 years since the Panther have last qualified for the state playoffs. In the meantime rival schools like Palisade, Glenwood Springs and Rifle have all gone on from the WSL to win state titles.

But now there is a new man in charge in Delta. His name is Ben Johnson and he brings with him fresh experience in winning a state title.

Johnson was an assistant coach on the undefeated, state champion winning Olathe Pirates on the 2A level in 2008. Now Johnson hopes to pass along to his new group of players the same toughness and attitude that his former players expressed.
