#2 Panthers edge Pirates

DELTA, Colo. - (KKCO) The second-ranked Panthers turned two fourth downs into touchdowns to beat the Pirates 35-33 in Delta on Friday night.

After leading 21-19 at the half, the Panthers scored on their opening drive. On fourth and long, Austin Watson found Phillip Decker in the end zone for the score. On their next offensive possession, Watson again found Decker on the same exact play. Again it went for a touchdown when the Panthers were faced with fourth and long.

Delta (6-2, 5-2) has now won five in a row. They host Montezuma-Cortez next Friday. Pagosa Springs (6-2, 3-1) saw it's five game winning streak snapped. They play at Centauri on Friday.

THIS GAME WAS NOT THE BEST GAME DELTA HAS PLAYED BUT HAVING TO DEAL WITH BOGUS CALLS AGAINST THEM IN THE LAST QUARTER AND COMPLETE NON CALLS AGAINST THE OTHER TEAM IS A SMACK IN THE FACE AGAINST ALL THE GOOD REFS OUT THERE. THERE SHOULD BE A WAY TO HOLD THESE REFS ACCOUNTABLE FOR INFLUENCING THE GAME THAT WAY. IT WAS THE SAME SITUATION WHEN DELTA PLAYED STEAMBOAT IN WEEK 2. DELTA MADE THEIR MISTAKES BUT, THE REFS ACTIONS AND NON ACTIONS HAVE TO BE DELT WITH. THANKS
