GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) -- The playoff brackets for 2A, 3A, and 4A football were released on Sunday. Four teams from the Western Slope qualified, and there is at least one representative in each tournament.
In 4A, the #4 Montrose Indians (9-1) will host the #13 Standley Lake Gators (8-2). Montrose is fresh off their 4th straight Southwestern Conference championship. They have not been held under 28 points in a game all season. The Gators, meanwhile, have won five in a row.
In 3A, the #9 Delta Panthers (8-2) will travel to the #8 D'Evelyn Jaguars out of the 3A Metro. The Panthers finished the regular season on a seven game winning streak.
Also in 3A, the #16 Palisade Bulldogs (6-4) will travel to #1 Pueblo Central Wildcats. The Bulldogs won their last three games and will try to hand the Wildcats their first loss of the season. If both Palisade and Delta win, they will meet in the quarterfinals.
In 2A, the defending state-champion #2 Olathe Pirates (10-0) will host the #15 Salida Spartans (5-5). Olathe has won 24 in a row, four more wins would make it back-to-back state titles for the Pirates. The Spartans, on the other hand, started 0-5 but won their last five to finish the season at .500.
