GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO)-- CMU basketball officially announced its 2012 recruiting class on Wednesday.

Two WSL-members headline the five newcomers. Palisade's Kane Gunther and Delta's Jake Ames have committed to join the Mavericks squad this coming winter. Gunther was named the WSL Player of the Year for 2011-2012 season while he averaged 18 points and 11 boards per game.

Ames was a two time representative for Delta on the All-Conference team. He led the league with 19 per game and helped his team to a league title.

Rounding out the rest of the five are Nick Guana of Cherry Creek HS, Ryan Stephan of Green Mountain HS, and Paul Walter, a transfer from Clackamas Community College in Vancouver, Washington.

Walter has strong ties to CMU through his father, Paul Walter Senior, who played tight-end for the Mavs in the 80's. Walter, Sr. was named All-Conference during his time at Mesa.
