GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) -- Three local schools are in the running to win $50,000 -- but to seal the deal, they're going to need your help.

Clorox's "Power a Bright Future" grant program aims to help schools pay for new or ongoing programs that allow children to play, create, and explore.

Broadway, Chatfield, and Nisley Elementary Schools were all selected as finalists in the contest.

Broadway wants to use the money to enhance its school library, by updating the materials in it and buying new furniture. School officials say the furniture is about 25 years old and most materials in the library date back to 1996.

Nisley wants to use the money to help pay for a new playground. The school recently won a grant to pay for the design work on the playground -- and hopes they can win this one to help pay for construction.

Chatfield wants to use the money on new technology for the school, including document cameras, smart boards, and projectors. Officials say while some classrooms have some of these things, many others don't and they want technology to be more consistent across the school.

The schools that receive the most online votes win.

"Up to five schools will selected for some amount of money," said Christy McGee, spokesperson for School District 51. "Only one winner can win 50 thousand dollars, but all three of our schools could potentially win some amount."
