Obama supporter's yard "forked"

Sunday is a day to recuperate from the previous week, as well prepare for the week ahead. But nothing could have prepared one local woman for what greeted her as she walked out the door.

Sherryl Buckley was on her way to church around 8 a.m. Sunday morning when she found at least 100 plastic forks sticking up from her yard.

She believes that this was done because she has Obama signs in her front window, as well as Obama stickers on her car. Buckley told KKCO 11 News she feels like her voting rights have been compromised.

"You don't have the right to go into someone else's yard and voice your opinion. That's not where your constitutional rights are. They end at the property line," said Buckley.

Buckly said she is not intimidated by this gesture, but she just wants to feel safe in her own neighborhood. So far, she is taking no legal action.

How do we all know it is politically or racially motivated? (Except for maybe the forks were white) Maybe it was a random act of kindness. By the looks of her extremely dry, brown front yard, she has obviously been conserving water. Doing her part to save the planet and our local water supply. Maybe some folks got together and thought it would be nice to aerate her yard by using recycled forks. This way, we are not poluting by using the internal combustion engine that we didnt build, using any $4.00 per gallon gas that we cant drill for, there was no noise and best of all no one used a machine that someone didn't create to make a job easier. There is no way a republican/tea party person or group could have done this. A republican/tea party person or group would have finished the job by pulling the forks, reseting them, pulling again, putting them away to be reused on another yard that so desperately needs attention. it was a lib, totally. The job was left unfinished. It is very clear that it was a slow news day. The fact this even made the news is amazing to me. This is a total prank. Maybe if more Obama supporters were targeted in this horific crime I could see it maybe making the Nickel adds right next to "free manure" or something. How many other "forking" stories have been done? How many "tping" stories? No voting rights have been lost here, not news worthy, get over it.

Boy the reason we are making these comments is because first you are making a big assumption with no proof. Second, you are still talking. I really cannot believe this made news in this town. You probably wasted the time of the Police on this one didn’t you? How do we know you didn’t do this to your own property, just to bring attention to your self. It would not be the first time someone would do such a thing.

I hear how the Republican/Tea Party say they are the champions of the Constitution, but for the most part they exploit it to fit their warped sense of ideology. I stand by my constitutional right to freedom of speech regardless you if agree or not. The Founding Fathers, in their great wisdom, made freedom of speech part of the 1st amendment so voices, regardless of which side of an issue they were on, could be heard and not threatened nor suppressed into silenced.I shouldn't be surprised by the many remarks by some who would tout the 2nd amendment. That seems to be answer, regardless if it is blatantly or impliedly expressed,to everything that they disagree with. I support the Constitution and all of its 27 amendments, but again maybe some of you didn't know that there were more than just 2 and that the 2nd amendment was not written to trump the 1st amendment. Like mom use to say (who was a Republican and now she is in Heaven), "your rights stop short of my nose". I am glad of the values she taught me and those are the values I will live by. I appreciate 11 News for providing a forum that allows voices to be expressed in a respectful manner.

Are you blaming Republican/Tea Party people for this? How did you arrive at that one? Her freedom of speech rights are in tact. She can still have her signs up as before. How are they impaired? This didn't get to her nose. My mom used to tell us to say "sticks and stones can break my bones but words can never hurt me." I think we all need to use that more often and not infringe on anyone's rights. Her peace of mind was injured and she feels violated but that is all.

Her claims of "rights being violated" sounds like the opening act of the Democrats whine fest.

I see the people who regularly comment on here are just waiting to see whether they can post the most clever response to any article. Get a life!

I am sorry but I have to write this. If she had "spoons" put in here front yard, would she be claming "Rape".

It seems that anytime something happens people claim it is a right. This is a silly story. So have the police fingerprinted all the Forks to find out who littered her yard. If she is so afraid maybe she exercise her "true right”, purchase a gun, go through the procedures’, and conceal carry it for her protection. You never know when you may see a person using an illegal fork.

Vandalism is vandalism no matter who is doing it for whatever reason. You same people that think that this woman is over reacting, might feel differently if the property owner had been frightened enough during the night when this "prank" was perpetrated to shoot the perpetrators.

Then if she shoots someone in her front yard, she will be the one going to jail. The Democrats are always supporting ignorant paranoia. Not like the clan is burning a cross outside her front door. Oh wait they are Democrats, that will not happen.

Sam, the states "Make my day law" doesn't include outside of ones dwelling. She could shoot them, if she had a gun, but she would be charged. Otherwise, my guess is this is just a prank by some kids. She probably ran them off her grass at some point and they decided to get "even". That would be "fair". As a democrat she should appreciate that.

I have a Romney sign in my yard. This morning I had a flat tire on a car in the driveway. OMG my voting rights have been destroyed! My life will never be the same. Last weekend I saw a tree in someone's front yard that had been toilet papered. They had Wright sign in their yard. Can it be? Has this person's voting freedom been eliminated by a roll of toilet paper?

What a joke. Voting rights being violated. Come on. She can go vote for Obama when the time comes just like any other idiot out there. I doubt the fork boogeyman is gonna be hiding in the bushes.
