Fontana, calif (AP) Singer Al Wilson has died.

The soul singer and songwriter had a several hits during the 1970s, the biggest of which was “Show and Tell.”

His son says the singer died yesterday of kidney failure in Fontana, California.

Born in Mississippi, Wilson began singing in his church choir. In 1966, he was spotted by manager Marc Gordon, who introduced him to singer Johnny Rivers, who signed him to his Soul City label.

“Show And Tell” was released in 1973 and topped the charts the next year. He had another hit with the song, “la la peace song.”

Wilson is survived by his wife, two daughters and a son.
