Wolf Den Fire visible from Grand Valley

We've received several calls into our newsroom of residents concerned about a Utah Wildfire visible from the Grand Valley.

Authorities say the wildfire citizens are seeing burning to the west in the Wolf Den Fire in Utah. Officials tell us the Grand Valley is not threatened at this time from that fire.

The fire started on June 29 and is up to 2,000 acres so far. It's active due to lots of grass, sage, pinyon and Juniper.

OH 11 NEWS GETS IT WRONG AGAIN. Can't even correctly report that Mack is an actual town 90% of the time. And now even a fire wrong. Do research, send a team out. Hell a 20yr old tweeted you way before you broke any news telling you that this fire was up baxter pass area. then told you it was no where near church camp fire. and provided pics for you. Now that I have done research thanks to Utah BLM It provided me with the information that this is the WOLF DEN FIRE. get things right before you report.

I know right. I'm in mack, drove to the start of baxter pass and I knew this was closer to us. Still looks closer than the Wolf Den fire but least the wolf den fire is most likely correct compared to Church Camp. Could see the glow of the fire in the smoke as well

We are north of Loma and are looking at smoke, Not far enough to be Duchesne. Tried looking for info on news.... Nothing yet! Smoke is close to Hwy 139 heading to Douglas pass.. Maybe the news should take spectators word for it and maybe someone should check out the new fire!

Try for the Wolf Den Fire. Much closer and growing faster.

finally % cut & paste from Inciweb for your article. At least this story is readable, spelled correctly and information packed. Your reporters should take notes on how to write or do more cut and pasting. Thank you.

Except that it is simply not possible that the fire we can see north of GJ is the Church fire. It is due north of GJ, not well to the NW like the Church fire would be- unless Utah is suddenly north of GJ.

The fire is apparently near Missouri Creek in Colorado, which is southwest of Rangely. Duchesne is about 109 miles from Rangely to the west. A completely different fire.

The Wolf Den fire is in the oilfield 30 miles from Vernal, an hour and a half srive since it is in the oilfield. The Church Camp is oover an hour in the other direction. Please learn how to pronounce the towns names properly.
