Last Second Touchdown Propells Cats Past Tigers

GRAND JUNCTION - With only four seconds left on the game clock, Scott Miller crossed the goal line on a 41 yard touchdown pass to complete Fruita Monument's comeback win over Grand Junction 18-14 on Friday night.

The Tigers took a 7-6 lead in the first quarter on Jayke Brock's long touchdown run, and then extended the lead in the second quarter to 14-6 thanks to a 20 yard touchdown pass from Freshman Sean Rubalcaba to Ashur Verna.

The score would remain the same until the fourth quarter. Wildcats quarterback Brett Nankervis would score on a two yard run to pull his team within two 14-12. The ensuing two point try was unsuccessful.

After holding the Tigers to a punt, Nankervis was able to connect with Miller for the game winning touchdown.

The win is Fruita Monument's first against Grand Junction since 2002.
