FRUITA, Colo. - With only seven seconds left on the clock in regulation Wildcats guard Brooke Janowitz found sophomore Taylor Johnson on the inbounds pass for the game tying layup that allowed Fruita Monument to defeat Montezuma-Cortez 52-49 in overtime.
Senior Mary McGee gave the Wildcats a two point lead with less than 15 seconds left in overtime by hitting a pair of free-throws. After a Cortez timeout Sarah Hensley stole the inbounds pass to seal the victory.
Johnson scored a team high 19 points for the Wildcats while Hensley added 10.
The Wildcats are back on the court again on Saturday afternoon against the Durango Demons at 12:00.
