Tigers Beat Wildcats in Rivalry Games

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo - The Grand Junction boys basketball team already had the Southwestern League title wrapped up, but were still very motivated to win on Friday. Not only was it senior night at Grand Junction High, but the Tigers were hosting their rivals, the Fruita Monument Wildcats.

Geoff Baldwin scored 21 points and Everett Robinson added 17 as the Tigers beat the Rival Wildcats 73-57. Scott Miller scored 12 points and TJ Pollock reached double digits with 10 for Fruita Monument.

The Grand Junction girls completed their turnaround this season by edging Fruita Monument by one point.

The Tigers were very young this season and struggled severely at the beginning of the season. But they turned things around one SWL play began.

Sophomore Fawn Brady showed her potential for the future with 16 points to lead all scores. Stephanie Drake scored 1- and Lisa Hughes added nine for the Tigers in a 49-48 win.

Mary McGee and Taylor Johnson each scored 13 and Sarah Hensley scored nine points for the Wildcats.
