Former FMHS wrestling coach Jim Stockert passes away from a stroke

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. Former Fruita Monument wrestling coach and teacher Jim Stockert passed away on Tuesday after suffering a stroke at the age of 61.

Stockert ended his coaching career in 2010 after serving as the head wrestling coach for 31 years.

His legacy was well-known throughout the community and the state of Colorado. Under Stockert Fruita Monument's wrestling program earned a AAA state title and had over 70 athletes medal, over 10 of those earning state titles

Stockert's memorial service is set for 11:00 am on January 18th at Fruita Monument High School.
