Class 5A Region 2 Softball Bracket 2011
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) -- Despite a 16-3 regular season record, the Grand Junction softball team was hardly a shoe-in for the 5A playoffs. But the Tigers found out on Tuesday afternoon that their season will be extended as they join Fruita Monument in the Region 2 playoffs on Saturday.
GJHS received the last at-large bid, which came down to the Tigers and three other schools. With the No. 24 seed, Junction will play No. 9 Ralston Valley at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Kronkright Park.
Fruita Monument (16-3) received the No. 8 seed and will host No. 25 Rangeview at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Kronkright Park as well.
Two of the four teams in the region will qualify for state.
