HS GBB: Grand Junction and Fruita look to keep pace with Montrose

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. The Grand Junction and Fruita Monument girls are preparing for what is often the biggest and most exciting game of the year - when the two teams go head-to-head to find out who will hold the upper hand and the bragging rights for the year.

Last season they split the two-game series, each one taking a win at the other's gym. This year the Wildcats enter as the reigning league champs with first year head coach Michael Wells at the helm.

Though they had a slow start they've come around to a 3-1 SWL record. As for the Tigers, they've had a hot start with 14 wins. Their only loss came at the hands of Montrose, putting them in the same slot as Fruita in league play.

So Friday night is anyone's game, and it's likely a must-win to keep pace with Montrose. The girls start at 5:30 PM, the boys follow at 7:00 PM.
