GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO)-- The 4A Bulldogs gave the 5A Wildcats a run for their money, but Palisade came up on the short end for the girls and boys games.
The Fruita boys (16-2) pulled away in the third quarter in front of a packed crowd at Brownson Arena. Palisade (14-4) trailed 29-22 at the half, and closed the gap to three early in the third quarter, but the Wildcats hit a hot streak to take off and win 63-49.
The Fruita girls (10-8) beat Palisade (7-11) 50-37, but it was not easy. Palisade trailed 22-21 at the half, and played a back-and-forth battle up through the conclusion of the third quarter. But the Wildcats pulled away with their entire roster as Dan Schmalz made sure that all of his girls got playing time at Brownson Arena.
