GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO)-- The eighth ranked Grand Junction Tigers are clearly the favorites in Friday's episode of the Fruita-Junction rivalry.
With a 4-1 record through non-league play, the Tigers will be favored against most, if not all, SWL teams. Yet, the Fruita Wildcats aren't letting that get in their heads.
"We don't think of them as the eighth ranked team," said Fruita Monument senior Zac Griggs.
"We just think of them as Grand Junction, our rival," he said.
"We're fine with the underdog role," Wildcats head coach Sean Mulvey said on Wednesday.
"Going into [Friday's game] a lot of people don't give us a shot," he said. "Everyone's 0-0 right now. We're excited about the opportunity to play one of the top ranked teams in the state."
The Wildcats and Tigers kickoff Friday night at 7 p.m. at Stocker Stadium.
