Tigers Spoil Wildcats Homecoming Game

GRAND JUNCTION - Grand Junction Tigers quarterback Ross Koepsell totaled over 400 yards of offense and five touchdowns to help his team beat the Fruita Monument Wildcats 33-27 on Friday night.

The Wildcats trailed 20-6 at the half but put together a late rally to make the game close in the end.

The Tigers scored on the opening drive of the game when Koepsell converted a fourth down and goal pass to Ashur Verna for a four yard touchdown and the early 7-0 lead. Koepsell and Verna also converted another fourth down play in the second quarter with a 30 yard touchdown pass.

Koepsell threw for 305 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for 117 yards and two touchdowns. His third touchdown pass went for 40 yards to Jake Palmer with less than one minute left in the first half.

The Wildcats play again on Saturday, October 13 against Denver East at 12:00 p.m.

The Tigers will be on the road on Saturday, October 13 against Montbello at 4:00 p.m.
