GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO)-- The Lakewood Tigers came into Stocker Stadium and stunned the No. 2 Grand Junction Tigers with a 36-24 win in the 5A quarterfinals.

GJHS fell behind 14-0 right away, but they took a 21-20 lead after three Jerreon Dennis rushing touchdowns. They trailed 29-24 with under five minutes to play, and they brought the ball all the way up to the Lakewood 11 yard line before being stopped.

The loss was GJ's only on the season and it came almost exactly one year later than their last loss in the 2010 quarterfinals. Jerreon Dennis rushed for 241 yards and three touchdowns in the losing effort.
