The Grand Junction Tigers football team started its season 0-2 after losing to the Overland Trailblazers 42-28 on Friday night.
The Tigers trailed 21-7 at the end of the first quarter but came right back in the second quarter to cut the lead to two after a two yard touchdown run by Ross Koepsell and a 35 yard TD pass from Koepsell to Bubba Higgins.
Doug Brady added two points to the Tigers score with a safety in the third quarter to cut the lead to 35-28, but that was the last the Tigers would score.
Koepsell completed 19 of 35 passes for 274 yards and three interceptions in the game. He also rushed 22 times for 82 yards and two touchdowns.
Tyler Palmer led the Tigers rushing attack with 118 yards on 22 carries. Bubba Higgins pulled in a team high seven receptions for 69 yards and two touchdowns as well. Ashur Verna led the tigers with 90 yards receiving on six catches.
Lance Willis rushed for a game high 168 yards on nine carries, including a 74 yard touchdown run in the first quarter.
The Tigers next game is at the Green Mountain Rams on Saturday, September 8 at 11:00 a.m.
