GJHS's Casey Burns and Montrose's Zane Hemond drafted

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO)-- Grand Junction's Casey Burns and Montrose's Zane Hemond can check another achievement off their lists.

The two recent-high school graduates were drafted during Day Three of the 2012 MLB Entry Draft on Wednesday.

Burns was taken his hometown team, the Colorado Rockies, in the 37th round. Although he calls it an incredible honor, Burns is forgoing his first bid into the MLB in order to attend St. Mary's College in California.

Zane Hemond heard his name called during the final round of the third day. The Arizona Diamondbacks selected the right-handed pitcher with their 40th round selection.

Jealousy? I think not. Played in the Minor Leagues for four years, back when players respected themselves and the game! HS stats 2012 for this draft pick: Batting Avg. of .244 w/ 16 rbi=not worthy. Not to mention his inablility to lead his team, love of breaking rules and superior prima donna attitude. Best player? not even close, the best player in the Valley was Bridges and he didn't get drafted!

Thank you Mr. Burns for giving all mediocre baseball players with horrible attitudes hope! This is a perfect example of why I am not a Rockies fan
