GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - Grand Junction and Fruita Monument faced off in a back-and-forth match that ended with a win for the Tigers.
For Fruita, it was their final game of the season, hoping to at least split the season series after Grand Junction took the first.
The Wildcats took the 5-4 lead after the first half of play, and it was the Tigers that were trying to keep up for the majority of the second half. Strong defense, quick passes, and some serious goalkeeping kept this league rivalry an exciting one.
In the end, Paul Dohm's goal in the final minutes of the fourth quarter gave Junction the 10-9 lead, and they were able to hold on for the win. They swept the season series for the first time in history.
