GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) Fruita Monument and Grand Junction entered into their SWL title game. The Tigers took a 7-1 in the fourth, but then play was suspended. On Friday, they finished off their game and finished with an 8-2 victory.

While the rain drizzled and wind blew through Thursday night, both teams held out with no runs through three innings. In the fourth, the Wildcats got on the board, but the Tigers were quick to do the same in their half.

After putting out a few solid hits, Grand Junction took a 4-1 lead. Lauren Reed was replaced at the mound by Olivia Bratt, but then the rain started to come in strong. Bratt couldn't get a solid grip on the ball, resulting in numerous passed balls and a handful of runs for the Tigers.

Play was suspended and picked up on Friday afternoon. Both teams put up a run in the fifth inning, but Grand Junction was able to hold strong and take the SWL title from Fruita with an 8-2 win.

The softball committee meeting takes place in Denver this Sunday to determine playoff brackets.
