GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) -- The No. 1 Tigers jumped out to a 21-0 lead before the end of the first quarter and never looked back, winning their first southwestern league game by a score of 47-0 over Central on Friday night.
The scoring started on a short run by Jerreon Dennis - the first of three touchdowns on the day for the senior running back (146 yards). Jonathan Pauli then forced a fumble on the ensuing Central drive, which was recovered by Jordan Jones. That turned into a 13-yard end-around touchdown run by Chandon Rose.
Rose wasn't done - on the Tigers' next possession, senior quarterback Sean Rubalcaba found his favorite target wide open deep down field for an 84 yard touchdown pass. Rubalcaba also rushed for a touchdown, as did Brett Labonte and Austin Lewis.
Grand Junction (6-0, 1-0) hosts No. 6 Montrose (6-0) next Friday at Stocker Stadium. Central (1-5, 0-2) travels to Durango.
