Colorado becomes one of the first states in the nation to join the EcoDriving movement.
EcoDriving was started in California, and now quickly backed by Colorado state legislators.
The program is aimed at educating drivers on how to drive smarter, thereby saving gas and reducing their carbon footprint.
Some of the EcoDriving tips:
-Avoid sudden starts and stops
-No need to warm up your car...most newer cars only need 30 seconds to reach optimal temperatures
-Plan your trips...use a navigation system or print a map to get the shortest route and avoid getting lost
-Ride the "GreenWave"...traffic lights are synchronized to the speed limit, so by driving the posted speed, you'll be more likely to get green light.
-Using the Air Conditioner if you're driving above 40mph, roll down the windows if you're going below 40mph.
-Make sure your gas cap is tight so the gas doesn't evaporate. You can loose up to 30 gallons a year if it's not tight.
-Remove extra weight from your car, it will burn less gas.
