Mesa County is ramping up recycling, trying to cut down on hundreds of pounds of paper, plastic and cans county offices use everyday.
The Facilities and Parks Department has started a Collection Service to help county employees recycle phone books and catalogues.
The county is also offering an electronic waste pickup and is expanding its existing pickup to include plastic and newspapers.
They’re also adding more places where employees can recycle cardboard.
Officials say the new program has already kept more than 1,100 pounds of paper out of the landfill.
