GRAND JUNCTION - The Grand Junction football program has a new leader at the helm as Robbie Owens was announced as the Tigers new head coach on Friday afternoon in a press conference at Grand Junction High School.
Owens takes over the spot that Shawn Marsh left vacant after six years at Grand Junction in which he led the Tigers to the state championship game in 2005.
Owens comes to Grand Junction from Coconut Creek High School in Florida where he was head coach for one year and posted a 7-4 record.
Previously to working in Florida, Owens worked as the Assistant Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator at Mesa State College from 1995-2007. He was also a wide receiver for the Mavericks and graduated in 1995.
Owens has yet to hire any assistant coaches yet but says that some of those he hopes to add to his staff will be newsworth figures.
