GRAND JUNCTION - Defense was the name of the game in the first half before the Palisade Bulldogs finally distanced themselves from the Delta Panthers on Friday night 35-7 in Palisade's Homecoming game at Stocker Stadium.
The Panthers' defense was tough in the first half holding Palisade to only six points in the first quarter, and then a late touchdown with only 49 seconds left in the half.
Tomas Valerio had two sacks for the Panthers in the first half. His second sack looked like a move right out of professional wrestling with a body slam type move on Bulldogs' quarterback Jake Appling.
Appling rushed for a touchdown and passed for a touchdown in the first half for the 14-0 lead.
