GRAND JUNCTION, Colo - The waiting is finally over. Months after making his decision on where to play college ball, Grand Junction High School baseball star, Geoff Baldwin had to wait anxiously until he could officially sign with the program. That moment came Wednesday as the Tigers senior signed his letter of intent to play baseball for the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

"I'm really excited man. I love the program. I love the people up there and it feels like the right fit and I'm excited," Baldwin said.

The multiple-sport standout says now he's able to concentrate on playing basketball for the Tigers, followed by baseball and finishing out his senior year on a positive note.

"It's those things where I feel like I can bring something back to this team and this community and show that we can compete with the upper level teams and those teams in Denver and we can beat them and we can play up there."

Baldwin says making the decision to sign with Nebraska was easy, based in large part by a personal visit by a member of the Huskers coaching staff. The hard part was waiting until he could officially sign his letter of intent. Baldwin is known as a hard-throwing lefty for the Tigers, but says at Nebraska he'll begin by playing first base and outfield with the possibility of pitching mixed in. However his focus will be on offense.

"They want to try the pitching... But I'm a hitter. I'm gonna do hitting. Thant's my thing. So first and foremost I'll be a hitter."
