GRAND JUNCTION,Colo. The thought of developing Alzheimer’s disease or dementia can be an extremely scary thought, but local experts say there are several things you should know that can help doctor’s diagnose the disease in its beginning stages.
There are 10 signs that can help in early detection for Alzheimer’s disease and experts say knowing these signs can help get a better treatment plan together and can help stave off the more severe symptoms that go along with the Alzheimer’s.
Director Teresa Black said there are also things families can do if they think a family member has Alzheimer’s.
"We have studies and research that shows us that early diagnosis means that we can get the person involved in services and treatment faster," said Black.
They say when families get involved; doctors are able to start the treatment process sooner helping to combat the more serious symptoms of the disease.
These signs can help determine if someone is just having a memory lapse due to aging or if they are starting to develop Alzheimer’s or dementia.
