GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - The Mesa County Coroner's Office says a 9-year-old killed in a go kart accident died on impact.

Deputy Coroner Kim Hollingshead says Taybor Duncan of Aurora died of multiple injuries and the manner of death has been ruled an accident. According to a release, the child died immediately upon hitting the trailer witnesses say she ran into with her go kart at the Grand Junction Motor Speedway.

The coroner says from what he knows, Duncan was restrained with a safety harness inside the kart and had to be extracted so first responders could perform CPR.

Investigators with the Mesa County Sheriff's Office want to talk with anyone who attended the go-kart event at Grand Junction Motor Speedway the day Duncan died.

Officials are also hoping anyone that may have been taking video of the event will come forward and share it with them.

Eye witnesses and anyone with video should call Investigator Lissah Norcross at (970) 244-3252.

Authorities say on Sunday morning Duncan was doing warm–up laps when she crested a hill and ran into a maintenance vehicle that was responding to another crash.

No word yet if the driver of the driver of the maintenance vehicle will face any charges as this investigation continues.
