Mesa State Students React to Strawmatt's 72 Year Sentence

On Friday, Strawmatt was sentenced for killing Mesa State students Jacob Brock and Jeniffer Kois.

He crashed into them on Interstate 70 while driving drunk and leading police on a high speed chase.

The students 11 News talked to say they are very happy with Strawmatt's sentence and feel he deserved the max for taking two lives so carelessly.

"He deserves it. Not ok to be on the road to do that. To cost the lives of two kids who who knows where they would've gone."

"I do. How can you take the lives of 2 and not pay consequences for that."

The victims' families say the state government needs to change high speed chase and DUI laws so that people like Strawmatt wouldn't be allowed to drive in the first place.
