GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - An organization that knows a lot about recycling and reusing has launched a new effort to keep items out of our landfills and money in your pockets.
The Grand Junction Goodwill store and Dell Computers are teaming up to e-cycle your old computers and computer accessories -- working or not working -- for free.
Goodwill officials say they'll pull out donations that can be resold in their store, then truck the rest of it to a special recycling center in Texas.
Considering that it costs $.42 per pound to recycle electronics at the Mesa County landfill, they're hopeful it's a cause the Grand Valley will get behind.
"If you take a typical CRT monitor that's going to cost between $12 and $15," says Rick Morgan, general manager of the Grand Junction Goodwill Store. "So to be able to drop it off here for free, along with other donations, that's got to be pretty huge."
You can drop off donations daily from 7 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Goodwill Store, which is located on 24 1/2 Road.
The "Reconnect" program only applies to computers and computer accessories.
