GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - With the slap of a sticker police are hoping to send out a strong message: It's illegal to buy or give alcohol to a minor.
With school back in session, authorities and the Mesa County Underage Drinking Prevention Task Force are once again kicking off their Sticker Shock Campaign.
On Friday police and task force members hit up six different liquor stores placing stickers on multi–packs of beer and wine coolers. The stickers read "Hey You!! It is ILLEGAL to provide alcohol for people under 21!!"
Giving liquor to a minor can cost you big. Contributing to the delinquency of a minor is a felony and can land you in jail.
On Thursday night police also patrolled near the Mesa Theater on Main Street and handed out more than 15 tickets for underage drinking and providing to a minor.
