More than 100 Mesa State students were forced out of bed early this morning as their dorm was evacuated.
Grand Junction fire crews responded to a fire alarm at Monument Hall at around 3am. Firefighters say someone set an extinguisher off in one of the hallways.
Students waited bundled up in blankets in the parking lot while crews used fans to clear a cloud lingering from extinguisher chemicals.
The chemicals can be a respiratory irritant but only if someone has lengthy contact with them. After the smoke was cleared, students were able to return to bed.
