A new study in the Archives of Internal Medicine journal found that acupuncture was a better way to relieve lower back pain than the traditional drugs and exercise.
Over a thousand people participated in the study. Three groups were tested. One group received acupuncture. The second received what they thought was acupuncture but wasn't. The last group took the drugs and exercised to help their problems.
Almost half of the participants treated with acupuncture felt a decrease in pain, while those who used the drugs and exercise felt very little improvement.
Acupuncture comes from Chinese medicine and it concentrates on the body's energy and channels.
