The victim involved a crash has been identified as 21-year-old Carl Ayers. According to the Mesa County Coroner's Office, Ayers died of positional asphyxia. Ayers was ejected from the pick up truck he was living in, and then became pinned underneath it.
The accident happened just after nine o'clock Saturday night on Highway 6&50 in front of Autozone. A total of three vehicles and eight people were involved. One person was taken to the hospital and Ayers was the only fatality.
Police are still searching for a person seen fleeing the scene of the crash. Saturday night they used dogs to try and track a scent.
Beer cans were found lying near the scene. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
