Although thousands of Police Departments across the country use stun guns when apprehending a difficult suspect, the devices have always been controversial.
Now, new research indicates stun guns, or "tasers", appear to be safe for most people.
In an independent study, researchers at Wake Forest University reviewed almost 1,000 cases involving the use of stun guns. 99.5 % of people tasered suffered either mild injuries, such as bruises and scrapes, or none at all.
