DENVER KUSA- A plane made an emergency landing on Interstate 70 Thursday afternoon forcing a major traffic detour.
At roughly 1:16 p.m. a call came in from the pilot saying that the plane was not going to make it to the airport and needed to make an emergency landing.
The Cessna 340 only had the meeker–based pilot on board.
The pilot was attempting to return from Denver International Airport to Meeker when one of the engines went out. He had hoped to land at Eagle Airport, but as he approached the airport his second engine failed.
The pilot was not injured and the plane was towed off of the highway.
Traffic on I–70 reopened after about an 1 1/2 hours. Motorists were told to take us 6 as an alternate Route.
