Someone in Colorado is about to get $20 million richer. A ticket sold in the Denver metro area matched all six numbers to win last night's Powerball jackpot.
It's the first Powerball jackpot–winning ticket sold in Colorado since the state joined the game back in 2001. It will be the third largest jackpot given away in the state.
The cash value for the winning ticket is $9.4 million.
Another ticket sold in Colorado matched four numbers plus the Powerball to win $10,000.
Lottery Deputy Director Tom Kitts says the winn3er has 180 days to claim the jackpot, but adds who ever has the ticket should sign the back immediately.
The winning numbers on Wednesday were 12, 16, 31, 33 and 54. The Powerball was 5 and the multiplier was 4.
Kitts notes that the Powerball was 5, the same number as Rockies slugger Matt Holliday. It was Holliday's triple and run home against San Diego that launched the Rockies into the playoffs.
Powerball is now played in 29 states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
